Sample interview questions
How do you create an individualized MCAT study plan for a new student?

I begin with a diagnostic assessment, score history, target date, academic background, and time availability. I then establish section-level goals, build a weekly content and practice schedule, and revisit the plan regularly using performance data and student feedback.

How would you help a student whose MCAT practice scores have plateaued?

I would analyze missed questions by content area, reasoning pattern, timing, and confidence level to identify the underlying cause. From there, I would adjust the plan with targeted review, deliberate practice sets, timed passages, and structured error analysis before reassessing progress.

How do you teach test-taking strategy across different MCAT sections?

I combine content instruction with section-specific reasoning frameworks, passage mapping, timing checkpoints, and evidence-based answer selection. I model the approach live, have the student articulate their reasoning, and use post-practice review to reinforce transferable habits.

How do you communicate progress and concerns to students' families while maintaining a productive student relationship?

I provide concise, objective updates based on milestones, attendance, practice trends, and agreed-upon next steps. I keep the student involved in the conversation, celebrate progress, and frame concerns as actionable opportunities for support rather than judgments.

How do you stay effective when tutoring students during evenings and weekends in a remote environment?

I maintain clear scheduling boundaries, prepare lesson materials in advance, and use reliable virtual tools to keep sessions focused and interactive. I document action items immediately after each session so that every student receives consistent follow-through regardless of the time slot.
