B2B Sales SaaS Sales Sales Cycle Management Customer Relationship Management Prospecting Pipeline Management Financial Services Consultative Selling Account Management

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to express my strong interest in the Sales Account Executive position at Monzo. With over five years of experience in B2B sales, particularly in financial services, I have a proven track record of exceeding sales targets and building lasting customer relationships. I am particularly drawn to Monzo's mission to simplify banking and its innovative approach to serving small businesses.

In my previous role, I successfully managed the full sales cycle, from prospecting to activation, and consistently achieved 120% of quota. I am skilled at understanding customer needs and delivering tailored solutions, which aligns perfectly with the requirements of this role. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to Monzo's growth and help more businesses benefit from its banking solutions.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the possibility of discussing how my skills and experience can add value to your team.

Sincerely, [Your Name]

Can you describe your experience with managing a full sales cycle from prospecting to activation?
In my previous role, I was responsible for the entire sales cycle. I started with lead generation through LinkedIn and cold outreach, then qualified leads, conducted product demos, handled objections, and closed deals. After closing, I worked with the onboarding team to ensure successful activation. I used Salesforce to track progress and maintained a pipeline of at least 50 opportunities at any time.
How do you handle rejection or objections from potential customers?
I view objections as opportunities to understand the customer's needs better. For example, if a customer says they are happy with their current bank, I ask probing questions to uncover pain points, such as high fees or poor customer service. I then tailor my response to show how our product solves those specific issues. I also follow up with relevant case studies or testimonials.
Describe a time you exceeded your sales quota. What strategies did you use?
In Q3 last year, I exceeded my quota by 30%. I achieved this by focusing on high-value prospects and using a consultative selling approach. I also implemented a structured follow-up system using automated emails and personalized touches. Additionally, I collaborated with the marketing team to run targeted campaigns that generated qualified leads.
How would you approach selling to a small business owner who is not tech-savvy?
I would simplify the conversation by focusing on benefits rather than features. For example, I would explain how our banking tools can save them time and money, using relatable examples. I would also offer to walk them through the setup process step-by-step and provide ongoing support. Building trust is key, so I would share success stories from similar businesses.
How do you prioritize and manage your pipeline when dealing with multiple leads?
I use a CRM to track all leads and assign them scores based on factors like budget, authority, need, and timeline. I focus on high-scoring leads first, but also allocate time for nurturing lower-scoring ones. I set daily goals for outreach and follow-ups, and I review my pipeline weekly to adjust priorities based on changing circumstances.
