Sales Operations GTM Strategy FinTech Payments Data Analytics Process Design Forecasting Cross-functional Collaboration Strategic Planning Sales Productivity

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am excited to apply for the GTM Strategy & Operations Manager position at Marqeta. With over 8 years of experience in sales operations within the FinTech and payments industry, I have a proven track record of driving strategic planning, optimizing sales processes, and improving productivity. I am particularly drawn to Marqeta's innovative approach and the opportunity to contribute to its growth in the EU/UK region.

In my previous role, I successfully led annual planning activities, managed sales funnel operations, and implemented data-driven strategies that increased forecast accuracy by 20%. My strong analytical skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally align well with the requirements of this role. I am confident that my experience in supporting enterprise-level accounts and my self-starter mindset will enable me to make an immediate impact.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the possibility of discussing how my skills and experiences can support Marqeta's goals.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Can you describe your experience with annual planning and quota setting in a sales organization?
In my previous role, I led annual planning for a sales team of 50+, including setting quotas based on historical data, market trends, and growth targets. I collaborated with sales leadership to assign territories and accounts, and developed revenue projections. I also implemented a quarterly review process to adjust quotas as needed.
How do you approach improving sales funnel management and forecast accuracy?
I focus on data integrity and process consistency. I ensure CRM data is clean and enforce stage definitions. I use historical conversion rates and pipeline analytics to identify risks and opportunities. I also hold regular forecast reviews with sales reps to validate deals and adjust projections.
Give an example of a cross-functional initiative you led that improved sales efficiency.
I led a project to streamline the handoff between marketing and sales. We implemented a lead scoring system and automated lead routing, which reduced response time by 30% and increased conversion rates by 15%. This required close collaboration with marketing, IT, and sales teams.
How do you use data and analytics to drive sales strategy?
I analyze sales performance data to identify trends, such as which products sell best in which regions, and share insights with leadership. I also build dashboards to track KPIs like win rates and sales cycle length, and use that data to recommend process improvements or training.
Describe a time you had to influence executive stakeholders with your recommendations.
I presented a proposal to restructure the sales territories based on market potential and rep workload. I used data to show how the change could increase coverage and revenue. After several discussions, the executive team approved the plan, resulting in a 10% increase in productivity.

As Marqeta’s GTM Strategy & Operations Manager based in the UK, you will help build and execute the strategy and operations for a best-in-class sales organisation. In this role, you will partner with Sales to use insights to develop internal sales processes and operational activities to maximise sales productivity. PLEASE NOTE: This is a hybrid role and requires employees to be based within 35 miles of our London office. You will be expected to work on-site two days a week, on Tuesday and Thursday, with the flexibility to work remotely on the other days.
