Insurance Sales Relationship Management Distribution Strategy Territory Management Strategic Planning Consultative Selling Partner Onboarding Market Intelligence Presentation Skills Budget Management

I am writing to express my strong interest in the RVP, Independent Distribution position at Ameritas. With over 6 years of experience in insurance sales and relationship management within the independent distribution channel, I have a proven track record of growing territories and deepening partnerships with IMOs and BGAs. My strategic approach to business planning and consultative selling has consistently driven sales results and strengthened distribution networks.

I am particularly drawn to Ameritas' mission of fulfilling life and its commitment to providing trusted financial products. My skills in onboarding new relationships, training teams, and leveraging market insights align well with the responsibilities outlined. I am confident that my ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal stakeholders will enable me to contribute significantly to your regional growth.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how my experience can support Ameritas' goals.

Can you describe your experience in managing relationships with Insurance Marketing Organizations (IMOs) and how you have successfully grown a territory?
In my previous role, I managed relationships with over 15 IMOs across the Midwest. I developed strategic business plans with each partner, setting clear sales targets and joint marketing initiatives. By conducting regular performance reviews and providing training on our product portfolio, I increased territory sales by 25% year-over-year.
How do you approach developing and implementing a strategic plan for a region?
I start by analyzing market data, competitive intelligence, and partner performance to identify opportunities and challenges. I set SMART goals, allocate resources effectively, and establish key metrics to monitor progress. I involve partners in the planning process to ensure alignment, and I adjust the plan as needed based on feedback and market changes.
Describe a time you resolved a complex problem with a distribution partner. How did you handle it?
A major IMO was unhappy with our service response times. I organized a meeting to listen to their concerns, then collaborated with our operations team to streamline processes and provide dedicated support. I also implemented a quarterly business review to proactively address issues. The relationship strengthened, and their production increased by 30%.
What techniques do you use to train and mentor less experienced team members?
I use a combination of shadowing, role-playing, and structured training modules focused on selling skills and product knowledge. I provide regular feedback and set individualized development goals. I also encourage them to attend industry webinars and share insights from their experiences.
How do you stay informed about competitive intelligence and industry trends, and how have you used this information to adjust strategy?
I subscribe to industry publications, attend conferences, and network with peers. I also hold regular meetings with partners to gather on-the-ground insights. For example, when a competitor launched a new annuity product, I analyzed its features and worked with our marketing team to highlight our differentiators in training sessions, which helped maintain our market share.
