Sample interview questions
Can you describe your experience with workforce management software and how you have used it to generate schedules?

I have used tools like Aspect and Verint to create schedules based on historical data and forecasted volumes. I regularly adjusted schedules in real time to respond to unexpected call spikes, ensuring service levels were maintained.

How would you handle a situation where call volume is significantly higher than forecasted?

First, I would analyze the current staffing versus real-time demand. I would then adjust breaks, lunches, or overtime, and if necessary, request additional resources. I would also communicate with operations leadership to inform them of the variance and potential impact on service levels.

What key metrics do you monitor to assess contact center performance?

I monitor service level, average speed of answer, abandonment rate, occupancy, and schedule adherence. These metrics help identify areas for improvement and guide staffing decisions.

How do you prioritize tasks when multiple scheduling conflicts arise?

I evaluate the impact on customer service and operational efficiency. Critical issues that affect service levels are addressed first, while routine tasks can be scheduled around them. I also use a structured framework to ensure consistent decision-making.

Describe a time you used data analysis to improve staffing efficiency.

In my previous role, I analyzed historical call patterns and identified a recurring mid-morning peak. By adjusting shift start times, we reduced average speed of answer by 15% without increasing headcount.
