Sample interview questions
How would you handle a forum post that violates community guidelines but reflects a learner's frustration?

I would first assess the post against the documented guidelines and preserve any necessary context. I would address or remove the violating content according to policy, communicate respectfully with the learner when appropriate, and offer a constructive path for them to receive support. If the case were sensitive or unclear, I would document it and escalate it to the Community Manager.

How would you maintain consistent moderation while checking the community only at scheduled intervals?

I would establish reliable morning and evening review routines, prioritize urgent reports and unanswered learner questions, and use moderation queues or alerts to organize work. I would document unresolved issues so they receive follow-up during the next review or can be escalated promptly.

What would you do to increase engagement in a scholarship learner community?

I would review participation patterns and common learner needs, then suggest low-effort activities such as discussion prompts, milestone celebrations, peer-recognition threads, and resource-sharing posts. I would test ideas with the Community Manager and use engagement feedback to refine them.

How do you distinguish non-technical support from technical support in an online learning community?

Non-technical support includes helping learners navigate community norms, locate resources, understand processes, and feel welcomed. Technical issues involving course content, platform defects, or specialized subject-matter questions should be acknowledged clearly and routed to the appropriate support or instructional team.

How would you communicate a recurring community issue to a Community Manager?

I would provide a concise summary of the pattern, relevant examples, the number or type of learners affected, actions already taken, and a recommended next step. This makes the report actionable while protecting learner privacy and keeping the discussion focused on improving the community experience.
