About this role.
Litmus is seeking a Sales Engineer to support enterprise sales of its industrial edge-data platform for manufacturers. The role partners with Account Executives on technical discovery, tailored demonstrations, solution presentations, pilots, proof of concepts, and RFI/RFP responses. Candidates need hands-on familiarity with manufacturing environments, OT/IT integration, industrial software ecosystems, and customer-facing pre-sales work. Technical fluency in Python or JavaScript, APIs, and ideally cloud, databases, containers, SCADA, MES/MOM, or historians is important. This is a high-ownership role in a growth-stage company that emphasizes fast execution, collaboration, and translating technical capabilities into measurable customer value.

Sample interview questions
I would begin by identifying the business outcome, such as reducing downtime or improving production visibility, then map the relevant assets, data sources, protocols, security constraints, and existing SCADA, MES, or historian systems. I would validate stakeholders, success metrics, implementation ownership, and integration risks before proposing a tailored demonstration or pilot plan.
I would frame the demo around a shared operational use case, while adjusting the depth by audience. For OT engineers, I would show connectivity, protocol support, data quality, and edge reliability; for IT leaders, I would emphasize security, governance, APIs, scalability, and business impact. I would close by linking both perspectives to measurable outcomes.
A successful POC has a jointly agreed scope, named technical and business owners, a realistic data source, clear acceptance criteria, and a defined path to production. I would keep the initial deployment focused on proving one or two high-value outcomes while documenting technical findings, value evidence, and next-step requirements.
I use scripting to accelerate data validation, automate repeatable demonstrations, transform payloads, and troubleshoot integrations. When working with APIs, I clarify authentication, endpoints, schemas, rate limits, and error handling, then provide practical examples that help customers understand how the solution fits their architecture.
I would acknowledge the requirement, clarify the underlying business need and urgency, and avoid overcommitting. I would evaluate viable configuration, integration, or workflow alternatives with internal product and engineering teams, communicate the trade-offs transparently, and capture the request as structured product feedback.
Who is Litmus
Litmus is building the data foundation that powers industrial AI.
AI doesn’t work without real-world, contextualized data – Litmus makes that data usable. As AI adoption accelerates, most industrial environments still can’t access or use their operational data. We solve that gap.
We’re a growth-stage software company helping manufacturers access, structure, and use real-time data from machines, systems, and sensors at the edge. Our platform sits at the intersection of edge computing, AI, and industrial operations, enabling some of the world’s largest companies to run operations in real time, reduce downtime, and optimize production.
Backed by leading investors and trusted by global manufacturers and partners like Google, Microsoft, Dell, Oracle, and Mitsubishi, Litmus is powering the shift toward software-defined manufacturing.
Why join Litmus
Build the infrastructure that makes industrial AI possible
AI is moving beyond the cloud and into the physical world. At Litmus, you’ll build the infrastructure that enables real-time data to power AI and machine learning systems in production environments.
Work on problems where software meets the real world
Most AI systems fail without access to real-world data. You’ll build the layer that makes them viable in production. We solve challenges at the intersection of distributed systems, real-time data, and industrial constraints — where reliability, scale, and performance are non-negotiable.
Have real impact, fast
You’ll work on systems used by real customers in production, with direct impact on product and company trajectory. As a scaling company, we move quickly. You’ll have ownership, visibility, and the ability to shape both product and company as we scale.
Join a high-performance team
We’re building a team that holds a high bar and pushes each other to improve. You’ll work alongside experienced operators, engineers, and leaders who have done this before and are building again at scale. We hire people who take ownership, move quickly, and care about outcomes. No passengers.
Our culture
At Litmus, the team is collaborative, curious, and low ego. People are scrappy, take ownership, and look for ways to make an impact. We value empathy just as much as execution, whether that’s in how we build, how we communicate, or how we support each other.
We’re a growing company, so things move quickly and not everything is perfectly defined. If you enjoy figuring things out, working closely with others, and making steady progress, you’ll do well here.
About the Role
We’re hiring a Sales Engineer to play a central role in the Litmus sales cycle. You’ll partner closely with Account Executives to understand customer challenges in OT/IT integration and Industry 4.0, then demonstrate how the Litmus platform delivers measurable value. You bring hands-on knowledge of the factory floor — discrete and batch production, industrial software ecosystems, and the realities of connecting OT to IT.
What You’ll Do
Lead technical discovery with prospects — uncovering business and technical requirements to shape solution presentations
Deliver tailored product demos and solution presentations that address customer specific use cases
Deploy and support small pilots and proof-of-concept projects
Work alongside Account Executives throughout the sales cycle to provide technical depth and credibility
Respond to RFIs and RFPs with accurate, compelling technical content
Relay market and customer feedback to Product Management — gaps, feature requests, and competitive insights
What You’ll Bring
Must Have
3–5 years of technical experience in manufacturing, industrial automation, OT/IT, or a
related field
Experience in a pre-sales, sales engineering, or customer-facing technical role
Ability to engage credibly with both OT engineers and business/IT stakeholders
Comfort with scripting (Python or JavaScript) and working with APIs
Nice to Have
Hands-on familiarity with industrial software ecosystems — SCADA, MES/MOM, Historians, or similar
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure — Azure, AWS, or GCP — in an industrial context
Knowledge of databases (SQL or NoSQL) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
Industry exposure in Automotive, Food & Beverage, Life Sciences, or Chemical manufacturing
BS/MS in Electrical, Industrial, or Computer Engineering (or equivalent experience)
