How to Set Up Automatic Balance Top-Ups

FacebookTwitterLinkedIn

Running out of advertising funds unexpectedly can cause your active campaigns to pause, disrupting your momentum and reach. To prevent this, our platform offers an Automatic Top-Up feature. Once configured, the system will automatically charge your saved credit card and replenish your balance whenever it drops below a certain threshold.

This guide will walk you through the prerequisites, the setup process, and the best practices for managing your automated billing.

Prerequisites: Saving a Payment Method

Before you can enable automatic payments, the system needs a secure payment method on file.

Note: If you have never made a payment on the platform, the Auto Top-Up checkbox will be disabled. You will see a warning message stating: “โš ๏ธ Please make at least one manual top-up to securely save your payment method before enabling this feature.”

To resolve this, simply go to your dashboard, click Top Up, and complete a standard manual payment. Your card will be securely saved for future automated transactions.

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

Once you have a saved card on file, configuring Automatic Top-Ups takes only a few seconds:

  1. Navigate to the Documents tab (which houses your Account Settings and Invoices) on your Ads Dashboard.
  2. Locate the Account Settings section at the top of the page.
  3. Check the box labeled Enable Automatic Top-Up.
  4. Upon enabling the feature, a new settings panel will appear with two dropdown menus:
    • If balance falls below: Select your trigger threshold. You can choose from $5, $10, $20, $50, or $100. (The default is $10).
    • Top up balance by: Select the amount you want to be charged and added to your balance. You can choose from $20, $50, $100, $250, or $500. (The default is $100).
  5. The system saves your settings instantly as soon as you change a dropdown value, and you will see a success notification confirming the update.

How it works: If you set your threshold to $20 and your top-up amount to $100, the system will monitor your daily ad spend. The moment your balance hits $19.99, it will automatically charge your default saved card $100, bringing your new balance to $119.99, ensuring your ads never stop running.

Strategic Recommendations & Best Practices

To get the most out of the Auto Top-Up feature without unexpected surprises, keep these tips in mind:

  • Match the Threshold to Your Daily Budget: If you are running multiple ads with high daily budgets (e.g., spending $40 a day), do not set your threshold to the minimum of $5. Set it to at least $50. This ensures your balance is replenished long before your daily budget is exhausted.
  • Keep Top-Up Amounts Proportional: If you have a total campaign budget of $500, setting a top-up amount of $50 means your card will be charged 10 separate times. To reduce the number of individual transactions and invoices, opt for a higher top-up amount like $250 or $500.
  • Monitor Your Invoices: Every automatic top-up generates a standard PDF invoice. You can view and download these at any time from the Invoices section directly below your Account Settings.
  • Turn it Off Anytime: You remain in full control. If you plan to pause your campaigns or want to switch back to manual payments, simply uncheck the Enable Automatic Top-Up box. The setting updates instantly.
