How to claim and customize your Professional Profile URL?

2 min read Updated Jul 14, 2026

Your online identity is a crucial part of your professional brand. By default, when you register on Jobicy, your profile is assigned a generic system ID (for example, jobicy.com/u/id84756). While functional, this doesn’t look great on a resume or an email signature. As a Jobicy Pro member, you have the exclusive ability to claim a Custom Professional Profile URL.

Why Should You Customize Your URL?

Having a clean, personalized link (such as jobicy.com/u/jane-smith) offers several major advantages:

  • Better Personal Branding: It looks polished and professional when included at the top of your resume, on your LinkedIn profile, or in your cover letters.
  • Easier to Remember: A custom link is much easier to share verbally or type out during networking events.
  • SEO Benefits: Having your actual name or core profession in the URL helps your profile rank better in Google searches when recruiters search for you by name.

Steps to Customize Your URL

Changing your profile URL is quick and takes effect immediately. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Profile Settings dashboard.
  2. Locate the “Custom Profile URL” field under the Basic Information section.
  3. Type in your desired URL slug (only lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens are allowed). We recommend using a format like first-last or firstname-profession.
  4. As you type, our system will automatically check if the username is available in real-time.
  5. Once you see the green checkmark confirming the URL is available, scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Save Profile”.

Note: Custom URLs are unique and assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. If your desired name is already taken by another user, try adding your middle initial or your primary skill (e.g., jane-smith-design).

Once saved, your old system ID will automatically redirect to your new custom URL, so any old links you shared will still work perfectly!
